Youth Ministry

Berryville Baptist Rascals

The Berryville Baptist Rascals is an exciting group of youth in grades 6 - 12. They have been sharing their unique puppet ministry since 1984. The team presents programs with contemporary Christian, Sunday School, country and rock-and-roll music selections that share positive messages focusing on Christian values and kindness. They have presented programs in areas from Queens, New York to D. C., Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Montana, Puerto Rico, South Africa and the Dominican Republic. Most recently, in 2012, they traveled to Indianapolis, IN.

Flora, a member of the fluorescent family of puppets, loves to sing "This Little Light of Mine" and "Doxology."

Young people need opportunities to share their beliefs in different ways, and these youth work through puppets, music, skits, and Bible stories. They learn about Christian outreach as they open their hearts to the children and families with a message of God's unconditional love.
Anyone is invited to join the team. We welcome any community members no matter what their church affiliation. The group practices every Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. during the months of September through November and on alternate Sundays beginning in January to June. They have two major Christmas programs in December and multiple outreaches during the year.

Mission 2012 to Indianapolis, Indiana

In July 2012, the Mission team travelled from Berryville to Indianapolis, Indiana, for a week of missions including: Vacation Bible School at Metro Baptist Center, work at the V.A. Hospital, an inner-city church VBS,  Wheeler Mission Shelters, and a children’s hospital program with the puppets. Upon their return, they led our 11 AM worship service on Sunday, July 22, to share the mission experiences.

Mission 2011 to Akron, Ohio

Mission 2011 found the team in Akron, Ohio.  We enjoyed meeting Eric Thoman at the Central Baptist Mission where we hosted a Sunday morning service and held two Vacation Bible Schools and helped with some food programs. We met wonderful new friends at the Haven of Rest Ministries Rescue Mission.  The team shared some chapel programs and did some outside work at this location.

Because of the size of our group, we were fortunate to find dorm rooms at Kent State University and commute to the inner-city programs.

The puppet team also visited the Akron Children’s hospital.

Mission 2010 to Memphis, Tennessee
Twenty eight members of the youth and puppet team, The Baptist Rascals, and adult chaperones traveled to Memphis, Tennessee, for our 2010 Mission Trip from June 25 to July 3. The young people shared two Vacation Bible Schools each day and helped with multiple inner-city clean-up and visitation projects. This year they were working with “Street Reach Ministries” at Brinkley Heights Baptist Church.

They also hosted a program at the Salvation Army family night, shared the Sunday morning service at Brinkley Heights and took the puppets to St. Jude's Hospital for an inpatient program. We welcome the opportunity to share God's love and grace with the inner-city families and are always looking for new ways to do so.

Little Rascals

The Little Rascals Puppet Ministry is for youth in first through fifth grades. They meet every Sunday during Children’s Church. These young people share upbeat music and activity in front of the curtain as well as behind the scenes. They are beginning to travel outside the church to local nursing homes, in areas of need and supporting the Baptist Rascals for special programs.

Please join us if you have an interest in experiencing and sharing real joy.
