Youth Ministry

Berryville Baptist Rascals The Berryville Baptist Rascals is an exciting group of youth in grades 7 - 12. They have been sharing their unique puppet ministry since 1984. The team presents programs with contemporary Christian, Sunday School, county and rock-and-roll music selections that share positive messages focusing on Christian values and kindness. They have presented programs in areas from Queens, New York to D. C., Kentucky, Tennessee, Montana, Puerto Rico, and South Africa. This year, they are organizing a trip to the Dominican Republic.

Flora, a member of the fluorescent family of puppets, loves to sing "This Little Light of Mine" and "Doxology."

Young people need opportunities to share their beliefs in different ways, and these youth work through puppets, music, skits, and Bible stories. They learn about Christian outreach as they open their hearts to the children and families with a message of God's unconditional love.

Anyone is invited to join the team. We welcome any community members no matter what their church affiliation. The group practices every Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. during the months of September through November and on alternate Sundays beginning in January to June. They have two major Christmas programs in December and multiple outreaches during the year.

Mission 2008

The youth department and puppet team members will leave for Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic for their yearly mission trip on June 18-28. During that time, they will hold a VBS, visit a hospital and children's home and various neighborhoods with children's programs.

Regular practices will begin on Sunday, February 24. The team will prepare a program in Spanish with the help of one of our church members. We will learn puppet and vocal music in Spanish as well as the VBS lessons.

On Youth Sunday, June 15, during the 11 AM service, we will have special music, puppets and talks by the youth about their upcoming mission trip to the Dominican Republic. We will have a special dedication in love and memory of our devoted Christian friend, Jim Longerbeam, and invite you all to come. There will be a covered dish luncheon following the service.

After their return, the youth and adults will host an exciting service to share our trip to the Dominican Republic.  Join us on Sunday, June 29 at 6 pm, for music (in Spanish and English), puppets, testimonies and sharing of the trip and personal experiences traveling out of the country with a youth group. If you are contemplating a trip with your youth or if you just want a night of fun and sharing the gift of God's love and joy, please plan to come to come and celebrate this special time with us. Following the service there will be light refreshments local to Puerto Plata and arts on display.

Lil' Rascals

The Lil' Rascals Puppet Ministry is for youth in Kindergarten through sixth grades. They meet every Sunday from 11:20 a.m. to noon. These young people share upbeat music and activity in front of the curtain as well as behind the scenes. They are beginning to travel outside the church to local nursing homes and in areas of need.
